OOH - The Latest Guidance

Dear everyone,

Thank-you for your patience with the uncertainty regarding Out of hours.

Here's an update regarding forthcoming changes. We continue to have a very limited pool of sessions available, and so for the time being, trainees are being asked to be somewhat "creative" about how they make up OOH requirements. We are hopefully due to be having more sessions available in the very near future, through the recruitment of more clinical supervisors at Local Care Direct.

 All of the information below will remain under the OOH section in resources on this website - click here for this.

Suggestions for what would constitute reasonable OOH sessions would include;

1. Crisis Team - please ask Angela for details on how to book these sessions. They are midweek evening slots.

2. Telephone triage  - any unscheduled care/ telephone triage in your own practice.

3. OOH GP sessions - some of you may have trainers who do sessions for OOH across Yorkshire - some with Harrogate/ North Yorkshire based providers, or Local Care Direct. They may be happy for you to join them for odd sessions doing this.

4. There are a few sessions at LCD - Lexicon House available - and should be more becoming available in the near future. Watch this space!

As before, you need to present a mix of sessions in your eportfolio, so this means a mixture of telephone triage (again we are hoping to have this available again in near future through Local Care Direct), and face to face contacts - ie PCC/ Home visits.

 It is hoped that the situation may be at least partially resolved beyond the end of January 2014. It is also recommended that you make a log entry ahead of ARCP (and ESR) summarising where in the ePortfolio the key OOH competencies have been demonstrated - this will assist panels and Supervisors.

Please check the Deanery website which has recently been updated with clear guidance.

Any problems/ questions, please let me know.
